What do you think?

Ok so I was discussing this topic the other day with some friends...what do you think about Christians goin to the bar? Some of my friends said it could help people stumble...now what happens if you were just hangin out there and not drinkin. I believe if Jesus was here today He would be in there and hangin out with those people. Someone brought a great point up to me the other day they said how can we expect our friends to come to our place if we wont go to theirs. Thats a great point how can we expect people to come to church if we wont hang out with them where they feel comfortable...Well I want to know your opinion on this topic...tell me please.

what do i think? i think that it's perfectly ok to go into bars/pubs. i do it. not as much as i used to, since now i'd be going for other reasons. but yeah, how are we supposed to witness to others if we're not willing to go where they are?

Good for christians to go into bars? Depending if the christian will influence others or they, themselves, be influenced. Jesus would have, yes, but if Jesus did, that would rule, cos things would get messy (in a good way!)
I personally won't because I hate the atmosphere. now for a little humor in the idea of 'why would they come where we are if we won't go where they are?' True, good statement, I've thought that myself, but within reason. You can do other activities with these people if you want to reach them. It goes further than the bar. If a bunch of guys are watching a porn in a basement, should I be there too? Of course not... back to the bar... I have a funny mental picture of some geeky guy on a dance floor 'trying' to dance with the idea of 'ministering' to the girl on the dance floor. JESUS LOVES YOU, he screams over the loud music. That's that PERFECT place to have a great conversation! It's far too loud.
Now please, hear the heart, picture that as funny as you can. It's personal preference. I don't go into a bar not because I can't, but because I just don't want to. but if others do, will I judge them? I'll try not to, but I will question their motive (if I don't already know their heart) Thanks Nikki!

i think it comes down to the persons motive..as has already been said..cause i do believe that Jesus was in the bars and in the places that we considered "not clean or moral"...but the difference is that when Jesus went into those places He changed things..people were healed, set free etc...so i think that if use the Jesus went to bars argument we have to go into that situations with the same motive that Jesus did....He did not come to this world to conform(look cool by hanging out at the bar)..but to transform it..(change lifes..set a Godly example)....and also i dont think that we should be so quick to judge all the time..questioning ok..but i find it hard not to judge sometimes..and we must remember thats exactly wat the pharisees did..and *starts to sing* i dont want to be a pharisee cause thier not fair-you see!(stops singing cause it started to get akward)..:)
